Overview

The Department of Financial Studies, under The IIS (Deemed to be University), has been an institution of learning and research since 1995 for students who aspire to enhance their managerial efficacy in the finance industry.

The Department offers B.Com. (Pass Course), B.Com. (Honours-Financial Studies), B.Com. (Honours-Financial Market) and UGC Approved B.Voc ( Banking and Financial Services)  at undergraduate level; and M.Com. Financial Studies, and Ph.D. programmes .

To keep students abreast with the latest developments in the field of finance, the curriculum is revised annually in the Board of Studies meeting wherein experts of different areas of the subject are invited. The edge is further sharpened by constant interaction with the industry through the Seminars, Workshops, Symposia and Research work. To support effective teaching-learning process, the department provides:

• Fully Fledged Computer Lab with internet facility.
• Departmental and Central library facilities with study /discussion rooms.

Thorough grooming of the students gives them a fine blend of theoretical and practical inputs to take on challenging careers in the field of Corporate Finance, International Finance, Banking, Stock  Market, Portfolio Management, Investment Advisory Services, Mutual Funds, Forex , Financial Planning, Derivative trading etc.

UGC approved B.VoC.(Banking and Financial Services) is designed to offer appropriate abilities and relevant skillsrequired by the industry. The course focus on specialized knowledge, hands on training and realistic insight of the industry thereby enhancing the vocational skills of the student.The course curriculum of B.Voc. is industry-based which contains about 30% General education (theory) and 70% vocational training (Practical) component.

The curriculum will prepare the student to work in the field of financial sector such as Banks,Mutual Fund (AMC), Investment Advaisory, Insurance,stock broking, Microfinance etc.
