Assessment Strategies

On the completion of this course, the students will be able to :

  1. Gain insights into the loan appraisal process followed by banks, including the documentation required, the assessment of risk, and the decision-making involved in approving or rejecting loan applications
  2. Develop the ability to assess the creditworthiness of customers and make informed lending decisions,
  3. Assess the feasibility and viability of projects, make decisions based on technical and financial indicators, and effectively communicate their findings to stakeholders.
  4. Analyse borrower situations, evaluate the effectiveness of different collection methods, and make decisions regarding the most appropriate approach to debt recovery in specific circumstances.
  5. Analyse NPA data, evaluate NPA management approaches, and make informed decisions in managing NPAs in the banking sector.

Approach in teaching: Interactive Lectures, Discussion, Tutorials, Practical cases Demonstration, Power point presentation.    

 Learning activities for the students:                              Self learning assignments, Effective questions, Seminar presentation, Live practical problems analysis

Students can visit a bank and study the lending and loan appraisal system relating to Agricultural loans, consumer financing, etc.

MOCK /case study / role play / group discussion on Assigning a Credit Rating to a Customer.
 Pre Sanction Appraisal- The credit process. Screening of applications, Appraisal of credit, Sanction limit etc

Case study / Presentations/ Chart preparation /Group discussions on Technical and Financial Evaluation of Project Reports.

Students can study various Credit Collection Techniques followed by lending institutions.- telephone calls, personal visit, letters, using collection Agency, Legal action

Students can study the NPA status and NPA management tools and techniques of leading two PSU banks and two private banks.
