Departmental Orientation 2021-22

Beneficiary: All Commerce Students of the university.
Objective: To acquaint students with the scope and future horizons of the courses and also to make them familiar with the time table, examinations and other aspects of all the three disciplines of Commerce (Accounting & Taxation, Financial Studies and Business Studies).
The session was started with introducing the students with the culture of saying Namaskar. Then, the students were given a detailed introduction about the Department of Commerce of the IIS(deemed to be University), initiating from the inception in 1995 when the B.Com Pass Course was offered by the University and how 6 new courses have been introduced over its journey of more than 25 years. Moving on to the programmes offered, the students were introduced to all the faculty members in the Department of Commerce. Dr. Aditi Jain also illustrated on how to read the timetable, locate their respective classes on campus for different programmes and their COSD courses and how to navigate through the university website including how to look the syllabus.
The students were informed about the different activities taking place on campus and were given an overview of activities formerly conducted in the University. The students were also explained about the exam pattern and the system of evaluation & credit of each course offered by the University.
Following to this was Chief Librarian Dr. Sonal Jain gave an elaborate introduction of the Central Library. She spoke in greater length about the facilities provided by the library both online and offline with the help of various tie ups with institutions like National Digital Library ,was provided to the students. Furthermore, students were also briefed about the activities conducted by the library and the behaviour expected from them in the library. After which the placement officer of the University Ms. Sharon spoke about placements and training at the University and the students were made familiar with the process of placement, some of the top recruiters, alumnae, former achievers and rank holder in the preceding years.
The session was concluded by the Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management Dr M.K.Sharma where he enlightened the students with his words of wisdom and the session came to an end after the students enjoyed some fun filled activities.
